A House of Representatives aspirant for Yola North, Yola South and Girei Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmad Uthman Muhammad, popularly known as Dawisun Adamawa, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 election, pledging people-focused representation driven by practical solutions and measurable impact.
Speaking during an interview, the aspirant said his decision to join the race was inspired by years of grassroots engagement through his non-governmental organisation, which he said has impacted lives across the constituency.
According to him, the organisation has provided support in key areas aligned with global development priorities, including education, clean water, climate action and youth empowerment.
He noted that over 2,000 youths have benefited from empowerment initiatives, while underprivileged children have received educational support such as school uniforms.
Ahmad added that these efforts shaped his conviction that broader change can be achieved through legislative representation.
The aspirant said his motivation is rooted in a sense of responsibility to step forward at a time when many citizens feel underrepresented.
He stressed the need for leaders willing to offer solutions and actively serve their communities.
On his choice of political platform, Dawisu explained that he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contribute to strengthening the party from within, describing it as a viable vehicle for democratic participation and governance.
Outlining his priorities, he identified education, youth empowerment, inclusivity and access to clean water as critical areas requiring urgent attention.
The Aspirant also raised concerns over water challenges in parts of Yola South, where boreholes often dry up within months, and proposed engaging experts to develop sustainable, long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
On lawmaking, the aspirant emphasised consultation with constituents as a key approach adding he will sponsor legislation that integrates environmental sustainability into development projects, including provisions for tree planting alongside construction activities.
Ahmad Uthman highlighted climate change as a growing threat, stressing the need to curb deforestation and promote cleaner energy alternatives to firewood and charcoal.
Positioning himself as a results-driven candidate, he said his campaign would be based on a track record of achievements rather than promises.
He expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver effective representation if elected, describing the contest as a crucial step in his broader political journey.
On the possibility of consensus primaries within his party, he maintained that he is open to any transparent and fair process, expressing confidence in the party leadership to ensure a level playing ground for all aspirants.
He reiterated his commitment to building on his past efforts and delivering tangible impact, assuring constituents of purposeful representation anchored on accountability and service.
