The Muslim Council in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, through its Orphans Committee, has distributed clothing to over one thousand orphans as part of its humanitarian efforts to support vulnerable children in the community.
The event which held at the Mayo Belwa central mosque, brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders, and philanthropists, who commended the initiative for providing relief to orphans, especially as they prepare for the upcoming festive season.
Speaking, the Chairman of the Orphans Committee, Mallam Muhammadu Bako, highlighted the significance of the gesture, emphasizing that it was aimed at ensuring the well-being of orphaned children and giving them a sense of belonging.
The Chairman stated that the committee has introduced an additional method for collecting contributions for orphans from the five daily Salat mosques in the area to support its activities.
He called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to support similar initiatives to uplift the less privileged.
Also, Speaking the member representing Mayo Belwa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon Musa Mahmud Kallamu who attended the event, lauded the Muslim Council for its commitment to humanitarian service.
Speaking in an interview, he reiterated his dedication to supporting initiatives that improve the welfare of orphans and vulnerable groups.
Beneficiaries and their guardians expressed gratitude for the support, describing it as a much-needed intervention.
They called for more efforts to provide educational and financial assistance to orphans in the area.
