Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Management Board of the Jimeta Modern Market.

In a directive issued on Wednesday, the Governor ordered the Chairman and members of the dissolved board to hand over all government property in their possession to the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, who will now take over the oversight of the market’s operations.

Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for a smooth transition, tasking the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with ensuring continuity and stability in the running of the market.

“The Ministry of Commerce and Industry must now ensure a seamless transition and work diligently to maintain the market’s functionality,” the Governor stated.

He further called on the relevant authorities to prioritize the welfare of market stakeholders and create a business-friendly environment that supports economic growth.

“The market’s success is crucial to the state’s economic well-being, and we expect the ministry to take all necessary steps to ensure its optimal operation,” Fintiri added.

The Jimeta Modern Market, a major commercial hub in the state capital, is regarded as central to Adamawa’s economic activities.

The latest move by the Governor is seen as part of broader efforts to enhance efficiency and accountability in public institutions.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on June 11, 2025.
