The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is recording significant political gains in Adamawa State as the party’s Transition Committee intensifies its grassroots mobilization drive, attracting waves of defectors across the Southern Senatorial District.
From Toungo to Ganye and Jada, the inauguration of ADC transition committees at the local government level has triggered what party officials describe as a “shocking surge” of defections from major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and other political groups.
In a statement issued by the committee’s spokesperson, Martins Dickson, several local government party chairmen, ward chairmen, and their executive members formally renounced their former affiliations and pledged allegiance to the ADC-led State Transition Committee.
Receiving the decampees, the Chairman of the Adamawa State ADC Transition Committee, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Sadiq Dasin, assured all new entrants of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the ADC is committed to inclusiveness, fairness, and collective growth.
Dasin urged the defectors to sustain aggressive grassroots mobilization, calling on them to work tirelessly until the ADC becomes the dominant political force in the zone.
He emphasized the importance of widespread sensitization ahead of the forthcoming membership registration exercise, describing it as a crucial indicator of the party’s growing influence in the Southern Senatorial District.
“The ADC must prepare strongly for the task ahead,” Dasin said, underscoring the party’s resolve to unseat the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
He subsequently inaugurated the local government transition committees for the zone, charging them with the responsibility of deepening the party’s presence at the ward and unit levels.
Earlier, Hon. Yahaya Hamanjulde called on stakeholders and supporters to unite behind the ADC’s vision of a people-centred government in 2027.
He criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that it has lost focus and worsened the living conditions of Nigerians.
According to Hamanjulde, policies such as increased food importation, high fertilizer costs, and rising prices of farm inputs have severely threatened national food security and deepened poverty among citizens.
Also speaking, Barrister Shagnah Pwamaddi advised members of the newly inaugurated transition committees to strictly adhere to the operational guidelines issued to them.
He stressed the need for broader inclusion by engaging more people at the ward and polling unit levels to strengthen the party’s structure.
Representatives of youth, women, and elders in the zone commended Rt. Hon. Dasin and his team for what they described as their stabilizing influence within the party.
They praised the committee’s resilience, discipline, and determination in staying focused on its mandate despite distractions.
With the growing wave of defections and intensified grassroots engagement, the ADC appears poised to reshape the political landscape of Adamawa South ahead of the 2027 elections.
