A Person Living with Disability in Yola the Adamawa State Capital has vowed to tackled climate change by embarking on massive tree planting.
A Vice Chairman, Spinal Cord Injury Association Adamawa State, Dalhatu Mohammed who is a graduate of Modibbo University Yola has planned to plant 1000 trees across schools in Adamawa to address problems of climate change.
“So far i have planted 136 trees in Yola and I’m hopping to continue planting the trees to reach or pass the target number” He said.
Mr Dalhatu who told Hantsi News in Royal Academy Wuro Hausa Yola town while planting the trees, said the habit of people cutting down of trees for domestic use without replacing it is a major source of concern.
Mr Muhammad Dalhatu said planting the trees is part of his resolve to fight desertification and compliment government efforts in that regard.
He noted his aim of planting the trees in school is to provide sheds and beautify the environment.
” climate change affects the entire world, Nigeria inclusive, hence the need for individuals to support the government in restoring the environment” Mr Muhammad added.
The vice chairman advised school authorities and other individuals to cultivate the habit of tree planting, noted that the negative effects of climate change are adversely affecting people living with disability.
He called on government and civil society organizations to support him in the fight against climate change in the country.
