The Member Representing Fufore/Gurin Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly Hon. Barrister Umar Ismaila Bobbo (APC) has appealed to youths across his constituency to disassociate themselves from the planned nationwide protest.
The lawmaker who doubles as Minority Whip of the 8th Adamawa Assembly and Chairman Standing Committee on Commerce,Industries, Trade and Corparatives, made the appeal In a town hall meeting held at fufore town on Wednesday with the youth of his constituency.
He further, urged them “NOT TO PARTICIPATE” in the planned protest and support the good policies and programs of President Bola Tinubu for the overall development of the Nigeria.
The Minority whip said, there’s need for people of the country to support the federal government’s effort towards building a better Nigeria for all, adding that, citizens must put national stability over unrest.
He informed the youths that, the state Assembly had during its resumed plenary adopted a seven-point resolution which among others include; that the youths across the 25 constituencies should disassociate themselves from the planned nationwide protests.
He also revealed that, part of his personal contribution during the debate on the floor of House Tuesday, was a prayer urging the government at all levels to create employment opportunities for the youth as well as communities to engage those that are not educated to reduce unemployment rate.
Daware said, the resolution of the house also highlighted the need for government initiatives to engage youth in community development, empowerment, education, employment opportunities among other poverty alleviation programs.
The Lawmakers proposed that the government implement programs tailored to the specific needs of young people and facilitate open discussions with them using neutral mediators.
He acknowledged that, as lawmaker and legal professional, while protests is a constitutional right, there are concerns that the demonstrations could be hijacked by hoodlums, potentially leading to unrest, chaos, and property destruction.
He emphasized that although protests are crucial for expressing grievances and advocating for change, it is vital to address issues through dialogue and peaceful means.
Barrister Daware also said the state Assembly had recommended for conducting town hall meetings to allow communities to voice their concerns.
