The Acting Education Secretary of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Bawuro Buba, has made a passionate appeal to educationists, parents, and critical stakeholders to join hands in uplifting the standard of basic education across the local government area.
Speaking with our reporter, Buba emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts in supporting government initiatives under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) policies.
“The current nature and scope of the basic education system demand the active involvement of all stakeholders. We cannot rely on the government alone,” he said.
He commended the administration of the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for its unwavering commitment to revitalizing education in the state.
According to him, the “Fresh Air” government has made significant strides through the construction of new classroom blocks, timely payment of salaries including the implementation of the new minimum wage and the supply of adequate teaching and learning materials, as well as furniture to schools across the state.
“His Excellency is doing his best. Now it’s time for us as parents, SBMCs (School-Based Management Committees), PTAs (Parent-Teacher Associations), and community leaders to rise and complement these efforts,” Buba urged.
The Acting Education Secretary also saluted Executive Chairman Mayo Belwa local government council Umar Nashong Gubi for his giant strides in the area especially his support for education.
He noted that Mayo-Belwa LGA boasts over 154 full-fledged primary schools, and stressed the importance of enrolling every school-age child to ensure no one is left behind in accessing quality education.
“Basic education is the foundation of our society. We must take responsibility as a community to encourage enrollment and ensure our children complete their primary education. Education is a shared responsibility,” he added.
Alh. Buba expressed gratitude to all education stakeholders who have been playing their part and called on others to emulate such commitment for the betterment of Mayo-Belwa and Adamawa State at large.
