The Adamawa State House of Assembly, in collaboration with SAL-SASILGA Nigeria Limited, has commenced a three-day workshop aimed at equipping legislative councillors and clerks from the 224 political wards of the state with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their legislative duties.
The workshop, which began on Tuesday and runs until January fifteen, twenty twenty five, focuses on legislative processes, practices, and procedures, underscoring the Assembly’s commitment to fostering good governance at the grassroots level.
Declaring the workshop open, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, emphasized the importance of training as a foundation for effective leadership.
He noted that the 8th Assembly remains committed to continuous capacity building, which he described as a key driver of quality service delivery.
According to him, the workshop comes at a time when Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is delivering transformative development across the state.
He urged participants to take full advantage of the training and commended SAL-SASILGA Nigeria Limited for its partnership in organizing the event.
The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Kelvin Kefas of Toungo Constituency, highlighted the importance of equipping councillors with the skills needed to perform their duties effectively and charged them to work diligently for the betterment of their communities.
Representing the State Ministry of Local Government, Lydia Michael, Director of Local Government, called on participants to pay close attention to the training sessions.
She reiterated that the workshop was designed to provide councillors with the tools needed to improve governance at the local government level and contribute to the overall development of the state.
The workshop brings together resource persons who are experts in various aspects of legislative processes, ensuring that participants gain practical knowledge and insights to enhance their performance.
The training is expected to foster collaboration between councillors and local government chairmen, creating a synergy that will drive development across Adamawa’s twenty one local government areas.
