The Jibiro Clinic in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State is reportedly operating with inadequate manpower despite being one of the largest health facilities in the community.
This was disclosed by Mrs. Roda Hassan Chiwar, the Focal Person of the Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control (ACOMIN), during a community stakeholders’ meeting.
According to her, the shortage of staff at the clinic is affecting its capacity to deliver quality healthcare services, particularly in malaria control and other essential health interventions.
Also speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the Committee, Halilu Bello, noted that the government is aware of the situation and is making efforts to address the manpower gap. He revealed that the clinic has already written to the authorities to request additional health workers to enable it function more effectively.
Similarly, the Elisha Habila Jabbi Lamba Primary Health Care Centre is facing challenges in capturing patient data, especially at night, due to inadequate staffing. The shortage has led to incomplete data entry, hindering effective record-keeping and patient follow-up.
In addition, the centre is grappling with insufficient drug supply, as essential medications often run out before the end of the month, causing disruptions in service delivery.
Despite these challenges, the management of the facility has assured that measures are being taken to ensure accurate patient data capture and improved service delivery moving forward.
