“Hon. Gubi Celebrates 100 Days as Mayo-Belwa Chairman with Transformative Achievements

Executive Chairman of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi (Tafida Binyeri), recently marked his first 100 days in office with an impressive series of accomplishments aimed at uplifting the community.

From day one, Hon. Nashon Gubi set a high bar for leadership, starting his tenure with induction and training programs designed to equip newly elected councillors with the skills needed for effective legislative work.
This initiative ensured that councillors were prepared to address the needs of their constituents and serve with impact.

Hon. Nashon Gubi’s efforts have been met with widespread recognition, as leaders from various political groups honored him with awards to acknowledge his dedication and service to the people of Mayo-Belwa.

Over these first 100 days, he has tackled critical issues in infrastructure, security, and community empowerment, making swift strides in areas that matter most to his constituents.

Among his achievements is the organization of an induction workshop for councillors, providing essential training that enables them to perform their roles effectively.

Hon. Nashon Gubi also directed significant rehabilitation efforts, restoring the Council Chairman’s office, the Vice Chairperson’s office, the Secretary’s office, and other sections of the local government building.

He ensured the renovation of the Nassarawo Jereng Area Court and the Binyeri District Head Palace in Tola, enhancing both justice accessibility and traditional leadership infrastructure.

Security has been a top priority, as Hon. Nashon Gubi has worked to stabilize conditions, fostering a safer, more peaceful environment for Mayo-Belwa’s residents.

He has also addressed longstanding power issues by initiating electrification projects in communities that had endured blackouts for over eight months, providing a new transformer and repairing several abandoned ones to restore reliable electricity.

Empowering youth and women has been a central focus for Hon. Nashon Gubi. Through the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, over 500 youths and women received cash donations of N50,000 each.

Furthermore, 1,000 individuals are benefiting from monthly N15,000 payments through the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP).

His administration has also distributed palliatives to less privileged residents, fertilizers to support farmers, and has invested in healthcare initiatives, conflict resolution, administrative efficiency, and infrastructure maintenance.

A strong advocate for gender inclusivity, Hon. Nashon Gubi has implemented a 35% affirmative action policy to ensure that women hold key positions within his administration.

His appointments include women as Vice Chairperson, Secretary to the Local Government, and Supervisory Councillor, reflecting a commitment to gender equality and inclusivity in decision-making roles.

Hon. Nashon Gubi expressed his gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose support has been instrumental in realizing these achievements.

He emphasized his commitment to aligning with the governor’s vision of a people-centered government dedicated to the welfare of the masses.
