Long Queues at Yola CNG Station: Tricycle Operators Urge Government, Investors to Establish More Outlets

By Abubakar Muhammad Adamu

Tricycle operators in Yola, Adamawa State, have called on the government and private investors to establish more Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refilling stations across the state following prolonged queues and delays at the existing facility.

The operators expressed satisfaction with the CNG initiative, describing it as a more affordable and profitable alternative to petrol. However, they lamented that the limited number of refilling stations was making access to the product difficult and affecting their daily business activities.

The appeal followed a prolonged wait by tricycle operators at a CNG refilling station in Yola, where some reportedly spent considerable time in the queue without getting gas.

The situation attracted the intervention of Comrade Bashir Jimeta, Adamawa State Chairman of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), North-East Zonal Chairman of the association and Director of Contact and Mobilisation of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Adamawa State.

Jimeta commended the operators for their patience and reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the CNG initiative as part of efforts to ease the impact of rising fuel costs on Nigerians.

He also urged governments at all levels and wealthy individuals to invest in establishing additional CNG refilling stations across Adamawa State to improve access and reduce the pressure on existing facilities.

The tricycle operators also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Director Contact and Mobilisation of Renewed Hope Ambassadors Adamawa state chapter comrade Bashiru Muhammad Jimeta under the leadership of the state coordinator Zakari Madayi, for his administration’s efforts in promoting alternative fuel sources.

They described CNG as a more economical and beneficial option for their transportation business compared to petrol.

The situation was eventually brought under control, with the operators succeeding in refilling their tricycles before returning to their daily activities.
