In a bid to foster development in Mayo Belwa Local Government Council, the Chairman, Hon Umar Nashong Gubi, has called upon the newly sworn-in councillors to support transformative initiatives aimed at benefiting the community.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the local government secretariat in Mayo Belwa, saw the induction of Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Ndottijo Yerima as the Vice Chairman alongside 12 other councillors.
In his address, the Chairman emphasized the importance of fulfilling electoral promises by delivering tangible democratic dividends to the electorate.
He highlighted the exemplary leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, noting the accolades received for infrastructural development, and urged the council to emulate such efforts in Mayo Belwa.
On the challenges faced by the community, Chairman Umar urged the councillors to prioritize tackling issues of poverty, hunger, and insecurity.
He stressed the significance of unity among residents, underscoring its role in attracting developmental projects to the area.
Speaking to newsmen, the Vice Chairman Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Ndottijo Yerima expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for empowering women in policymaking roles within his administration.
She pledged to justify the trust placed in her by the people of Mayo Belwa by contributing effectively to the council’s objectives.
On his Part, Hon Ashibiyan Bulus, the re-elected Leader of the Mayo Belwa Council, extended appreciation to his colleagues for their support.
He assured of his commitment to working collaboratively with Chairman Umar to elevate the local government to greater heights.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries including Hon Musa Mahmud Kallamu, the Member representing Mayo Belwa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and Hon Aloysius Babadoake, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, among others.
