The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has begun distributing food items to various organisations in Yola, Adamawa State, as part of a new initiative aimed at fostering cordial working relationships and easing the work of organisations and vulnerable groups across the state
Commission on Thursday distributed essential food items to several organisations in Yola as part of an effort to strengthen community ties and ease the work of organisations and vulnerable groups in the state capital.
Leading the distribution, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the Commission, Barrister Khalifa Lawan, said the exercise aligns with a directive from the commission’s headquarters to reach out to 100 organisations and vulnerable groups in Adamawa State before the end of the year.
Lawan said the gesture is to support them and ease their work as they continue serving the public and vulnerable people in their care.”
The first beneficiaries included the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), followed by Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Damilu, and the Goni Musa Tumo Tsangayya Wauro Jabbe Islamic School. Others were Jama’atu Nasril Islam, a Children’s Home, as well as the Jimeta and Yolde-Pate correctional and custodial centres.
The items were delivered directly to the organisations at their various locations.
Leaders and representatives of the beneficiary groups expressed appreciation for the intervention, acknowledging that the support would significantly ease their day-to-day activities and enhance their ability to serve their communities.
Barrister Lawan reaffirmed the NEDC’s commitment to supporting institutions and vulnerable groups, noting that such interventions remain central to the commission’s mandate of uplifting communities across the North East.
