The Assistant Director of General Services and Administration for Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, Comrade Mahmud Njabari has commended the residents of the area for their active participation in the monthly sanitation exercise aimed at promoting a clean and healthy environment.
While monitoring the exercise on Saturday, Njabari highlighted the significant support and cooperation received from the communities, noting that many residents actively took part in cleaning their surroundings.
Njabari, while speaking to newsmen, acknowledged that while many residents complied with the directive, there were still some who did not participate.
He urged everyone to take responsibility for maintaining a clean environment to ensure a healthier life.
Similarly, Amos Kaktumso Kibang Tola, the Acting Director of Environment for Mayo Belwa LGA, applauded the success of the exercise and emphasized the importance of keeping the environment clean and habitable.
On his Part, the Councillor representing Mbilla Ward in the area Hon Bilyaminu Muhammad Sada commended the residents for complying with the sanitation directive and reaffirmed commitment under the leadership of Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi to continue encouraging the public to adhere to government directives for the betterment of the community.
The monthly sanitation exercise which was reintroduced by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, is being observed across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, including Mayo Belwa, with the goal of reducing the risk of disease outbreaks and maintaining a cleaner environment.
The exercise requires residents to temporarily close shops and businesses, while security agencies, including the police, civil defense, and vigilantes, block major highways to restrict vehicle movement during the activity.
Residents in Mayo Belwa, particularly those seen clearing refuse from drainages, praised the initiative, recognizing the long-term health benefits for themselves, their families, and their communities.
They expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri and the Chairman of Mayo Belwa Local Government Council, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi, for their support in ensuring the success of the exercise.
