The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area has inaugurated its new executives, marking what many described as a fresh beginning for the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The event, held amid cheers from party supporters, brought together stakeholders, loyalists, and newly elected officials who pledged commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the PDP at the grassroots.
Speaking after the inauguration, the Executive Chairman of Mayo Belwa Local Government, Hon. Umar Nashong Gubi, expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful and successful conduct of both the ward and local government congresses.
He described the journey as one of progress and divine guidance, noting that the smooth process of the congresses was a sign of maturity and unity within the party.
“It’s a big task for the new executives,” Gubi said. “As I mentioned in my speech, they should form a reconciliation committee from the ward to the local government level to bring back aggrieved members. Leadership is from God, and to whom much is given, much is expected.”
He urged party supporters across Mayo Belwa to support the new leadership, pray for them, and offer constructive advice that will ensure the party’s growth and stability ahead of the next elections.
In his remarks, the newly sworn-in PDP Chairman of Mayo Belwa Local Government, Hammanjamdi Abubakar, described his emergence as a moment of gratitude and responsibility.
He thanked God for the opportunity to lead the PDP at the local level, emphasizing that the day’s event was one of the most memorable in his political career.
Hammanjamdi, who has served as a legislator, vice chairman, and development area administrator, said his experience in both governance and party administration had prepared him to manage internal and external challenges effectively.
“Before I became chairman, I already knew most of the challenges facing our local government about 50 to 60 percent of them,” he said. “I’ve handled such issues before, and by God’s grace, I will manage to overcome them this time too.”
He called on party members and supporters to embrace unity and reconciliation, urging those who lost out during the congresses to join hands with the new executives for the progress of the party.
“In democracy, not everyone can win at once,” Hammanjamdi added. “If you didn’t get the position today, tomorrow might be your turn. Let’s work together and move our great party forward.”
The inauguration ended on a note of optimism, with leaders and supporters expressing renewed hope that the PDP in Mayo Belwa Local Government would emerge stronger, more united, and better prepared for future political challenges.
