The Media Office of Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, issues this statement to convey his deepest sympathies to the people of Hong and Gombi Local Government Areas following the recent, relentless attacks on peaceful communities by remnants of Boko Haram and allied criminal elements.

Senator Abbas expresses profound grief over the loss of lives including brave security personnel and innocent civilians the destruction of properties, the burning of places of worship, and the tragic displacement of families across Garaha, Dabna, Bangna, Mubang, Zah, Bitirhuya, Kwapre, Mayo Ladde, Gaya-Dlang, and Garkida.

He deeply feels the pain of the communities whose peace and economic livelihoods have been severely disrupted.

“The cries of our traditional leaders, stakeholders, and distressed citizens are not political; they are an urgent call against an existential threat,” Senator Abbas declared.

“The people of Hong and Gombi are an integral part of this nation, and they will not be abandoned to terrorists.”

To address this escalating crisis, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas assures his constituents of his commitment to taking the following decisive steps at the highest levels of government

He is pushing for the formal integration and support of local hunters, forest guards, and vigilante groups who possess critical knowledge of the terrain to serve as holding forces alongside the military.

The Senator is coordinating with relevant federal and state humanitarian agencies, including NEMA and NEDC, to urgently provide relief materials, medical assistance, and trauma counseling to displaced persons, while strategizing on safe reclamation plans for deserted villages.

Senator Abbas commends the bravery of our gallant armed forces who continue to pay the ultimate price in defense of the homeland and calls for a unified, proactive defense strategy to completely flush out these criminal enclaves.
