The Salihijo Ahmad Foundation has officially commenced the registration process for its JAMB 2026 Sponsorship Initiative, fully sponsoring over 300 students across the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.
In an official statement, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Zainab Salihijo, announced that the initiative has moved from promise to action following the public call for applications.
According to her, the sponsorship programme was designed to remove financial barriers that prevent capable and deserving students from pursuing higher education.
“We understand that for many families, the cost of JAMB registration can be a significant burden. Through this sponsorship, we aim to ensure that no qualified student is denied the opportunity to sit for the UTME due to financial constraints,” she stated.
The registration exercise began at Lamido Zubairu ICT Centre, Yola, covering the Central Zone and continued in the Southern Zone at Mayo-Belwa, before moving to the Northern Zone at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi.
At each of the designated centres, beneficiaries were duly captured and successfully registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Foundation emphasized its commitment to transparency, fairness and equity in the selection process, noting that beneficiaries were chosen based on clearly defined criteria to ensure that support reaches the most deserving and vulnerable students across the state.
Salihijo reaffirmed that education remains one of the most powerful tools for transformation, stressing that investing in young people is equivalent to investing in the future of Adamawa State.
She also appreciated partners, volunteers and community stakeholders for supporting the smooth implementation of the initiative.
Commenting on the giant strides of the foundation, lecturer in the Department of Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Dr. Sa’ad Yusuf Kama, PhD, commended the Salihijo Ahmad Foundation for the initiative.
Dr. Kama noted that such support plays a critical role in expanding access to higher education for students from less privileged backgrounds.
Beneficiaries across the state have continued to express appreciation for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention.
Aisha Hamza from Mubi South Local Government Area said the scholarship enabled her to successfully register for the examination, noting that it significantly eased the financial burden on her parents.
Joshua Joseph, also from Mubi, commended the Foundation for what he described as meaningful support for students aspiring to further their education.
From Mayo Belwa, Muhammad I. Usman described the JAMB sponsorship as overwhelming, appreciating the Foundation’s foresight and commitment to supporting young people.
Similarly, Fatima Ibrahim from Jada Local Government Area described the initiative as life-changing, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to pursue her academic dreams without financial constraints.
The Foundation reiterated that the JAMB 2026 Sponsorship Initiative is part of its broader mission to promote youth development and expand access to education in Adamawa State.
With over 300 students fully sponsored and successfully registered, the Salihijo Ahmad Foundation says it remains committed to building pathways to opportunity and creating long-term impact through sustained investment in education.
