A coalition of AIA Support Groups drawn from all 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State has endorsed Senator Aminu Iya Abbas for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday during a press conference at the Teachers’ House Conference Hall in Jimeta-Yola, where the groups described the lawmaker as a leading figure for the state’s future leadership.
Speaking before journalists, stakeholders, youth and women leaders, the coalition said its decision followed wide consultations across the three senatorial districts.
The groups noted that Adamawa needs leadership built on competence, transparency and a strong record of service delivery.
The coalition comprising AIA Movement, AIA Community Mobilisation, AIA Community Engagement, AIA Support Group, AIA Frontiers, AIA Media, AIA Sisters, AIA Door-to-Doors, AIA Yola Youth Group, Unique Sisters Group and TYPA Youth Group declared unanimous support for Abbas to contest the state’s top seat.

According to the groups, Senator Abbas has the capacity to sustain and expand ongoing reforms, ensuring continuity in governance and development efforts.
The coalition further expressed support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing the importance of alignment between state and federal policies to drive economic growth.
Highlighting Abbas’ profile, the groups cited his background in accounting, experience in both public and private sectors, and legislative track record.
They referenced his tenure as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and his current role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology.
They also listed several interventions linked to the senator, including facilitation of federal appointments, youth support initiatives, legislative motions on flood control, advocacy for electricity reforms, and programmes in health, education and agriculture.
Other efforts mentioned include scholarship schemes, rural infrastructure projects and support for community security initiatives.
The coalition expressed confidence in Abbas’ leadership ability and called on him to accept the endorsement and contest the 2027 election, pledging to mobilise support across the state.
