The political atmosphere in Adamawa State recorded a major development as the Adamawa Northern Youth Forum (ANYF) officially endorsed Aminu Iya Abbas for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement took place in Mubi, where youth leaders, stakeholders, and community representatives from Michika, Madagali, Mubi North, Mubi South, and Maiha Local Government Areas gathered in large numbers to declare their support.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Faisal Babagari Duhu described the move as a collective decision by the people of Northern Adamawa, emphasizing that the region is united in its call for Senator Abbas to contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The forum commended the “Fresh Air” administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, noting that the next leader must consolidate on the achievements recorded.
It stressed the need for continuity, stability, and expanded development across the state.
ANYF also acknowledged the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that ongoing reforms and grassroots-focused programmes are laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth.
Highlighting Senator Abbas’ credentials, the group pointed to his past role as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and his current position in the Senate, where he chairs the Committee on Innovation, Science, and Technology.
They described him as a seasoned legislator and forensic accountant with the capacity to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
Duhu further portrayed Abbas as a “bridge-builder” committed to long-term solutions, citing advocacy for key infrastructure projects such as the dredging of River Benue and the completion of the Dasin Hausa Dam.
“We choose Senator Abbas because he represents a new Adamawa where merit outweighs origin and youth energy is harnessed for development,” he stated.
At the event, several stakeholders including Hassan Mazaa, Hon. Mukhtar Bello, Simon Zira, Hajiya Aisha Musa, and Sani Ibrahim Mubi reaffirmed their support, urging the senator to heed the growing calls to join the race.
Youth leaders stressed that young people are now active participants in the political process, not just mobilizers, and pledged to organize towards an APC victory built on competence and inclusive governance.
Women groups were also not left out, with representatives calling on women across Northern Adamawa to rally behind the movement, noting their critical role in determining electoral outcomes.
Political observers say the early endorsement, backed by strong youth and women participation, could significantly influence the dynamics of the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
