NORTHERN SENATORS FORUM CONDOLES WITH PEOPLE OF HONG AND GOMBI LGAs OVER SEPTEMBER 30 – OCTOBER 1 INSURGENT ATTACKS

The Northern Senators Forum has received with deep shock and profound sorrow the news of the coordinated insurgent attacks that occurred between the night of September 30 and October 1, 2026 on peaceful communities and military outposts in Hong and Gombi Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

On behalf of all Senators from Northern Nigeria, we express our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones, including three gallant soldiers of the 232 Battalion in Garaha-Mojili, a forest guard, and innocent civilians, to the Government and people of Adamawa State, and particularly to the affected communities of Garaha, Dabna, Bangna, Mubang, Zah, Bitirhuya, Kwapre, Mayo Ladde, Gaya-Dlang, Garkida, Boima, and Guyaku.

We are deeply pained by the reports of killings, abductions of women and children, burning of places of worship, destruction of properties, and the tragic displacement of hundreds of families who were forced to flee their ancestral homes on the eve of our nation’s 66th Independence anniversary.

These attacks, which targeted the 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha, are not only an assault on Adamawa State, but an assault on the North and on the Nigerian nation as a whole.

The Northern Senators Forum stands in solidarity with the people of Adamawa State. By our collective efforts, you will not be abandoned to terrorists.

We condemn in the strongest terms these cowardly acts and:

1. Call on the Federal Government and Defence Headquarters to urgently reinforce security presence in the Kopre-Sambisa corridor and adopt a unified, proactive strategy to flush out these criminal enclaves;

2. Urge NEMA, NEDC and other humanitarian agencies to urgently provide relief materials, medical assistance and trauma support to displaced persons from the September 30-October 1 attacks.

We call on the good people of Hong, Gombi and the entire country to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with actionable information.

May Almighty Allah grant the departed Aljanat Firdaus and comfort their families. May He restore lasting peace to Hong, Gombi, Adamawa State and the entire Northern Nigeria.

Signed:

Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua
Chairman, Northern Senators Forum
