Hon. Michael Zira has taken over as the new Director General of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) in Adamawa with a promise to bring the desired changes for the betterment of the people.
At a ceremony, held at the office of the agency in Yola on Thursday, Hon Michael Zirra expressed his passion for wealth creation and vowed to use his new office and reduce poverty rate in Adamawa.
He acknowledges that though the expectation in the society is high but believes that with the support of the staff in the agency, his mission to impart lives will surely be a reality.
“I have a passion for wealth creation and quest to bring people out of poverty. The expectation in the society is high but with your support we will change the fortune of the people for the better,” said Zirra.
The DG charged the staff of the agency to be committed to delivering their primary assignments, saying though he was not there to witch hunt anybody but will not tolerate luke-warm attitudes.
“Apart from infrastructure development what is most dear to Governor Fintiri is youths and women empowerment. He is keen to reduces poverty in Adamawa to the bearest minimum,” he said.
He thanked Governor Fintiri for appointing him as DG PAWECA and promised to bring his versatile wealth of experience to bear not only for the benefits of youths and women but the state as a whole.
Earlier in her remarks before handing over, the outgone Head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello, appreciates Governor Umaru Fintiri for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of Adamawa State.
She reveals that since his inception into office, there is no time, Governor Fintiri turned down any memo brought before him for the welfare of youths and women which she noted has enabled the agency to impact many lives in Adamawa.
The event was attended by Commissioners of Water Resources and Youths Development, Ayuba Audu and Barister Yakubu Wali, principal staff of the agency and other government functionaries.
