A Non-Governmental Organization, Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, Adamawa State, ACOMIN has called on Communities in Adamawa to actively support and advocate for their local Primary Healthcare Centers for optimum performance.
This is contain in a statement issued during it’s media briefing in Yola.
The state Programme officer ACOMIN Mrs Laureta Charles, stressed the need for National Health Insurance program to be extended to other citizens of Nigeria, particularly the poor and most vulnerable.
Mrs Charles while presenting the Briefing said the organization has been reengaged by Catholic Relief Services under the ongoing Global fund Malaria grant to continue implementing the civil society component which was successfully executed from twenty nineteen to twenty-twenty.
According to her, the grant is being implemented in eight local governments in each in thirteen states.
Laureta Charles explained that the components deployed to fight Malaria in Nigeria include provision of free long-lasting insecticide- treated nets, deployment of Volunteers to carry out interpersonal communication at the grassroots levels, and provision of free Malaria test kits and medicines among others.
The project officer expressed concern that despite efforts to control Malaria Nigeria still has a long way to go to achieve full control of the disease due to some challenges being encountered in the interventions projects.
Mrs Charles said ACOMIN efforts has yielded positive results in the Increased community commitment in health and other community developmental affairs.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman ACOMIN Mr. Martins Banga Madanga appreciated the participants of the briefing for supporting the Acomin project which is community led monitoring project CLMP in Adamawa State.
He also thankes E.Ds and the media for participating in the project and announced the the end of the project which started from 2019 to 2023.
The chairman also said that CBOs has recorded succes during the implementation of the community led monitoring project especially in a hard to reach areas in implementing the free global fund malaria commodities.
