Former Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has challenged youths to learn valuable lessons from his life, being a village boy from Jada whose impact is being felt on the global stage.
Waziri Adamawa threw the challenge in response to the commemoration lecture to mark his 77th birthday, held today in his
Home town of Jada. He called on youths to be resilient in fighting for what is right, no matter the cost.
The event had many attendees from all over Ganye Chiefdom, Adamawa State, and beyond who gathered to reaffirm one fact; ‘Atiku is an icon of democracy to reckon with.’
In his welcome address, the chairman of the organising committee, Dr. Ahmed Shehu, explained why such an event was necessary at this crucial time. According to him, going from ‘zero to hero,’ the life and times of Atiku should serve as a lesson to young people in Nigeria and Africa.
Professor Maxwell Gidado, Former Chief of Staff, Government House Yola, was the event’s Keynote speaker.
Prof. Maxwell Gidado summarized the former Vice President’s stewardship and service to humanity, listing the number of schools, mosques, and churches he has built and the caliber of people he has mentored from ground zero to successful politicians, excellent business moguls, and thought-leaders
Prof. Gidado elaborated on the uncountable projects of societal development and growth that are lobbied and sponsored singlehandedly by the former Vice President.
One of the event’s highlights is Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda presenting a birthday gift – an award plaque to the Waziri Adamawa.
In his vote of thanks, Atiku’s first son, Adamu Atiku Abubakar , appreciated all those who contributed towards the success of the maiden Atiku Week of Service ceremony, assuring that such a program would become an annual event in Jada, Atiku’s birthplace.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the former governor of Adamawa state, Sen. Bindow Umar Jibrilla, former deputy governor, Chief Growth Seth, some state PDP chairmen, deputy speaker of the ADHA, Hon. Jijjiwa, LG Chairmen, District Heads etcetera.
