The Principal Special Assistant on Water Resources to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Hon. Abubakar Isa (Marafa Shelleng) has commended the governor for awarding contract for the supply of portable drinking water to the Shelleng Cottage Hospital from Gamji/Donge water source.
Abubakar Isa made the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Yola where he addressed the recent contract awarded to Hill Water Resources Nig. Ltd by Governor Fintiri to provide water supply to Shelleng Cottage Hospital which was constructed by his administration as part of its commitment to quality healthcare delivery at all levels in Adamawa State.
He said the prompt action by the Governor is a bold step and very dear to Shelleng stressing that Fintiri’s approach to community development is worthy of emulation by all political office holders.
He stressed that as critical stakeholders they will work hand in hand with the contracting company to ensure quality and speedy completion of the water project the way they did during the construction of the cottage hospital for the benefit of all and ensure its sustainability.
He said Shelleng local government area has good record of maintaining government projects, noting that the supply of potable water to the hospital would boost public health and insulate rural dwellers from water-borne diseases.
He said Governor Fintiri’s approach to community development is all inclusive and commendable especially with the recent infrastructures, water, health, education, human capital development and other laudable people oriented projects in the state.
The Marafan Shelleng also lauded the Governor for the construction of Cottage Hospitals in Lamurde, Demsa, Girei, Song, Gombi among others, adding that it was a major project which would enhance access to health services, especially for the immediate communities and environs.
Marafan Shelleng also appreciated the role played by the Commissioner Ministry of Water Resources Hon. Ayuba Tanko Audu for ensuring timely approval of the contract after it was captured in the 2023 approved budget estimate of the state.
He described him as a commissioner who always work towards meeting the policies and projects of the Fintiri led administration in the state, urged others to borrow a leave from him for the overall development of Adamawa.
It could be recalled that the PSA to the Governor while serving as Member Representing Shelleng Constituency in 7th Assembly, presented the issue under matters of urgent public importance in August 2019 and worked towards ensuring that, the Shelleng Cottage Hospital is captured into the then proposed 2020 budget appropriation bill and lobbied for it’s approval by the Governor and within short period of time his effort has come into reality.
He was visibly happy for the love shown to the people of Shelleng by the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Finitiri, for the construction of Cottage Hospital in Shelleng and other LGA’s following a motion he moved on the floor of the House of Assembly to that effect on 10th August 2019.
Hon. Abubakar Isa also contacted relevant stakeholders in order to provide enabling environment for successful completion of the project by getting its members to play their own civic roles effectively.
