Chairmen and Secretaries of the Membership Registration, Revalidation, Mobilization and Registration (MRMR) Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State have submitted a formal petition to the National Chairman of the party, alleging irregularities and constitutional breaches in the ongoing membership registration exercise in the state.
The petition, jointly signed by the ALGON Chairman of MRMR, Mampan Nahum, and the ALGON Secretary of MRMR, Abdullahi Ahmadu, accused Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani and Alhaji Kashim Imam of actions they described as deliberately orchestrated and contrary to party guidelines.
According to the petitioners, Senator Binani allegedly acted in connivance with Alhaji Kashim Imam, who provided an account number and authorized the payment of funds.
They stated that this payment was made after the Interim Transition Implementation Committee of ADC in Adamawa State had already transferred the sum of ₦50,000,000 from the State Chapter account to a Suntrust Bank account belonging to the party’s National Secretariat on February 10, 2026, at about 4:20 pm, with authorization from the same Alhaji Kashim Imam.
The petition further explained that on February 12, 2026, following the inauguration of the MRMR Committee, the Adamawa State MRMR Chairman, Amb. Engr. Omar Suleiman, received 50,000 membership registration cards and materials, officially authorized by Kashim Imam.
The petitioners claimed that Kashim Imam had also undertaken to release an additional 50,000 cards after the commencement of the exercise in the state.
However, they alleged that on February 13, 2026, the remaining 50,000 cards were released to Senator Binani without the knowledge or consultation of the State MRMR Chairman.
The petitioners stated that the cards were reportedly handed over based on assurances that they would be delivered to Amb. Engr. Omar Suleiman in Yola.
The petitioners claimed that despite efforts made by the State MRMR Chairman to retrieve the cards for onward distribution to Local Government Chapters, the materials had yet to be produced.
After reviewing developments surrounding the MRMR activities in Adamawa State, the petitioners alleged that Alhaji Kashim Imam’s actions were responsible for the current challenges affecting the registration process.
They accused him of acting against the resolutions, guidelines and policies of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), and of violating the party’s constitution and oath of allegiance.
In their prayers, the petitioners called on the National Working Committee to urgently caution Alhaji Kashim Imam to operate strictly within party guidelines and to desist from actions capable of creating factions within the Adamawa State chapter of the ADC.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the individuals mentioned in the petition.
