The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has called on Muslims across the state to embrace the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) as a practical and sustainable way of preparing financially for the annual pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The Coordinator of the Hajj Savings Scheme, Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Yola, Abbas Babayo, made the call while explaining the objectives, benefits and long-term vision of the scheme.
According to him, the Hajj Savings Scheme is designed to enable intending pilgrims to save gradually towards the cost of Hajj, instead of waiting until the fare is announced and struggling to raise the full amount at once.
He explained that the scheme is open to every Muslim who intends to perform Hajj in the future, regardless of occupation or social status.
“Whether you are a civil servant, business person, farmer, artisan, or student planning ahead, the scheme is open to everyone,” Babayo said.
Hajj Savings Scheme Operates on Mudarabah
The Coordinator explained that one of the major advantages of the Hajj Savings Scheme is that it operates based on the Islamic principle of Mudarabah, a profit-sharing arrangement.
He said funds deposited under the scheme are invested by the partner Islamic bank in Shariah-compliant investments.
According to him, where profit is realized, it is shared based on the approved Mudarabah ratio, with 45 per cent of the profit going to the subscriber, while 55 per cent goes to the Bank and the Hajj Commission, in accordance with the terms of the scheme.
Babayo further assured prospective subscribers that the scheme provides a safe, transparent and organized avenue for Muslims to prepare for Hajj while receiving necessary guidance and support from the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.
Scheme Complies with Islamic Principles
He also affirmed that the Hajj Savings Scheme is structured in accordance with Islamic financial principles.
He explained that under the Mudarabah model, investments are made only in Shariah-compliant businesses and transactions, thereby giving subscribers confidence that their savings are being managed in a manner consistent with Islamic teachings.
How to Register
Babayo said registration for the scheme is simple and accessible.
He urged interested Muslims to visit the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission in Yola or meet any of the Hajj Savings Scheme marketing teams, where officers will guide them through the registration process and explain how to commence saving through the partner bank.
“Don’t Wait Until Hajj Fare Is Announced”
The Coordinator urged Muslims across Adamawa State to cultivate the habit of saving early, stressing that even small but consistent savings can help reduce the financial burden associated with Hajj.
“I encourage every intending pilgrim not to wait until Hajj fare is announced. Start saving today, no matter how small the amount. With consistency and proper planning, your dream of performing Hajj can become a reality,” he said.
Adamawa Hajj Commission Unveils Vision 2030
Babayo disclosed that the Acting Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has articulated a long-term strategic vision known as “Vision 2030.”
He said the vision is aimed at ensuring that, by 2030, Adamawa State fully embraces the Hajj Savings Scheme as the preferred pathway for intending pilgrims to prepare financially for Hajj.
According to him, the initiative seeks to encourage Muslims to develop the culture of early savings, reduce the financial pressure associated with Hajj and ensure that more intending pilgrims are adequately prepared when the time comes to undertake the pilgrimage.
He stressed that achieving the Vision 2030 would require the collective support and cooperation of the government, religious leaders, traditional institutions, community organizations and the general public.
Call to Intending Pilgrims
The Commission therefore appealed to intending pilgrims across Adamawa State to join the Hajj Savings Scheme and become part of the Vision 2030 initiative.
“Don’t wait until Hajj fare is announced before you begin preparing. Start your Hajj Savings today. Together, let us support the Acting Executive Chairman’s Vision 2030 by making the Hajj Savings Scheme the foundation of Hajj preparation in Adamawa State,” Babayo said.
He encouraged interested members of the public to visit the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission or meet any of its Hajj Savings Scheme marketing teams to register.
“Begin your journey to the House of Allah today. May Allah (SWT) bless our efforts and grant us the opportunity to perform an accepted Hajj. Ameen,” he added.
