Adamawa State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee constituted by the Speaker Bathiya Wesley, to commiserate with the families and victims of boat mishaps has visited Gurin in Fufore and Rugange in Yola South local government areas to sympathized with the communities.
The Ad-hoc Committee led by the Deputy Speaker and Member Representing Jada Mbulo constituency, Muhammad Buba Jijjiwa visited the District Head of Gurin Alhaji Baba Gurin Abbo and village head of Rugange Humon Dan’iya in their separate palaces.
He told the traditional rulers that the house would henceforth enact a law on safety measures on water ways in Adamawa State to avart feature occurrence of the Boat mishap.
In their remark, member representing Fufore Gurin constituency Barrister Ismaila Umar Bobbo and that of Yola South Constituency, Kabiru Mijinyawa said the purpose of engaging the communities was to hear their inputs on how to avert the future incidence.
They noted that majority of the people in the river bank rely on the lakes for economic development, solicited for support of the stakeholders and traditional institutions on the law to be enacted by the House to sanitize transportation on water ways.
Responding seperstely, the Wakili Gurin, Alhaji Abubakar Baba Gurin and Dan’ya Rugange Homun Dan’iya Obed commended the House ad-hoc committee and the speaker for the condolence visit, and assured them of support on the effort for safety of lives.
Among the seven man ad-hoc committee visited the Communities are Majority Leader of the house, Kate Raymond Mamuno and Minority leader, Suleiman Umar Alkali.
