Following the passing of elder statesman and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, CON, Alhaji Tukur Iya Abbas led a high-level delegation to the Tukur family residence in Yola, Adamawa State, to deliver a formal condolence message on behalf of the Late Alhaji Iya Abbas family.
The delegation was received by the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Barr. Awwal Tukur. During the visit, Alhaji Tukur Iya Abbas offered deep condolences on behalf of the entire Iya Abbas dynasty, reflecting on the long-standing
ties and shared history between both prominent families in Adamawa State and the country at large.
Describing the late former Governor of the defunct Gongola State as a titan of governance, industry, and diplomacy, Alhaji Tukur Iya Abbas noted that Bamanga Tukur’s departure marks the end of an era for Nigeria’s political landscape.
Speaking during the visit, he emphasized
on the legacy of leadership of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur’s vast contributions to national development ranging from his tenure at the Nigerian Ports Authority to his leadership as Minister of Industries and PDP National Chairman serve as a lasting legacy.
He described his pioneering efforts in private-sector integration across Africa through the African Business Roundtable (ABR) elevated Nigeria’s standing globally.
The Iya Abbas family offered prayers asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the late patriarch, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and provide fortitude to his family, the people of Adamawa State, and the nation.
In response, representatives of the Tukur family expressed sincere gratitude to Alhaji Tukur Iya Abbas and the entire Late Alhaji Iya Abbas family for their solidarity, prayers, and support during their period of grief.
