The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) has officially commissioned its new office in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, with a strong appeal to members to prioritize safety and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
Performing the commissioning ceremony, the State Chairman of TOAN, Comrade Bashir Muhammad Jimeta, congratulated the tricycle operators in Girei for achieving this significant milestone.
He described the development as a step forward in the association’s journey toward greater professionalism and organization.
Comrade Jimeta highlighted that TOAN is currently undergoing a major transformation, moving from the informal sector into a more structured and formal organization.
According to him, this shift is crucial for ensuring better regulation, improved welfare, and broader recognition of the association and its members.
He further revealed that the association is on the verge of securing a comprehensive health insurance scheme for its members, allowing them to access healthcare services similar to civil servants in the state.
While addressing the members, the Chairman emphasized the need for unity, discipline, and vigilance.
He urged tricycle operators to avoid acts capable of causing division within the association and to remain alert to security challenges while operating on the roads.
Comrade Jimeta also used the occasion to commend Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his administration’s strides in infrastructure development and improved security across the state.
He noted that these efforts have significantly enhanced the ease and safety of tricycle operations in Adamawa.
The commissioning ceremony featured goodwill messages from representatives of key security and traffic management agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
All the speakers stressed the importance of safety consciousness among TOAN members and urged them to strictly observe traffic laws to reduce the risk of accidents and enhance public trust in their services.
