Ahmed Tijjani Galadima: The Experience, Vision and Leadership Adamawa Needs in 2027

As Adamawa State looks towards the 2027 governorship election, the emergence of Ahmed Tijjani Galadima Aminu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate has placed his experience, professional record and vision for the state at the centre of public conversation.

For decades, Galadima’s career has been shaped by public administration, education, human-capital development, institutional management and the energy sector — experience he now seeks to bring into a new chapter of public service in Adamawa.

Born in Yola on February 26, 1964, Galadima began his educational journey at Hammawa Primary School before attending Yelwa Government Secondary School, now Aliyu Mustapha College. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1988, followed by a Master of Science degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan in 1998.

His professional journey began in 1982 with the Gongola State Board of Internal Revenue. He subsequently moved into banking, working with Gamji Bank of Nigeria Plc and rising through positions of increasing responsibility, including Operations Manager.

A Career Built Around Human Capital

A major chapter of Galadima’s career unfolded at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, where he developed extensive experience in education, professional training, institutional development and human-capital management.

He spent more than twelve years as General Manager, Education and Training, where he was involved in the administration and development of scholarship, professional-training and human-capital programmes.

His work was particularly associated with the strengthening and expansion of the PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme and the development of relationships with international educational institutions and partners.

Through these initiatives, opportunities were expanded for Nigerians to acquire advanced education and specialised professional skills in areas considered important to Nigeria’s energy and economic development.

From PTDF to National Leadership

In October 2023, Galadima was appointed Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of PTDF, taking responsibility for an institution at the forefront of developing human capacity for Nigeria’s petroleum and energy sectors.

His tenure was associated with scholarship and professional-development programmes, institutional strengthening, research development and international academic collaboration.

One of the notable initiatives associated with his leadership was the development and expansion of the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, CPESK.

The initiative sought to strengthen Nigeria’s domestic capacity for advanced education, research and professional development in petroleum and energy-related disciplines.

Collaborations involving international universities, including the University of Portsmouth, Robert Gordon University and the University of Strathclyde, introduced advanced academic and professional training models aimed at connecting Nigerian education with international standards.

A Vision That Puts People First

At the heart of Galadima’s professional philosophy is the belief that people are the most important resource of any society.

His career has emphasised education, professional development, institutional capacity and opportunity creation.

The principle is straightforward: education should create opportunity; training should build competence; competence should create productivity; and productivity should contribute to economic development.

It is this philosophy that now informs his political ambition for Adamawa.

A New Chapter for Adamawa

In 2026, after years of public-sector service, Galadima resigned from PTDF to pursue his political ambition and subsequently emerged as the APC Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Adamawa State Governorship Election.

His political proposition is built around the belief that Adamawa can achieve greater prosperity by investing in its people, strengthening institutions and unlocking the state’s enormous economic potential.

The vision identifies good governance and accountability, economic growth and industrial development, agricultural transformation and food security as key priorities.

It also places emphasis on youth empowerment and job creation, quality education and human-capital development, modern and accessible healthcare, infrastructure development, peace and security, women empowerment and inclusive participation, as well as sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

The Leadership Proposition

Beyond professional achievements, Galadima is presented by supporters and associates as a leader associated with humility, simplicity, calmness, discipline and respect for people.

His career has largely been defined by institutional responsibility rather than elective political office, giving his leadership profile a strong technocratic foundation.

Now, as he enters the 2027 governorship contest, the central question is how his experience in managing national institutions and developing human capacity can be translated into practical solutions for Adamawa.

The state’s agricultural resources, youthful population, strategic geographical position and talented people, according to his profile, represent enormous opportunities. Unlocking them, however, requires leadership capable of combining vision with competence, ambition with discipline, and development plans with effective implementation.

For Galadima, the journey into politics is therefore presented not as a departure from his professional career, but as an extension of his commitment to public service — taking the lessons of institution-building and human-capital development to the task of building a stronger and more prosperous Adamawa.

As the 2027 election approaches, Ahmed Tijjani Galadima Aminu presents himself as a proven technocrat, a seasoned administrator, a builder of human capital and a leader with national experience.

His vision is ultimately centred on an Adamawa where knowledge creates opportunity, agriculture creates prosperity, enterprise creates jobs, institutions serve the people, and every generation can look to the future with confidence and hope.
