Hon. Bilyaminu Muhammad Sada, the Councillor representing Mbilla Ward in the Mayo Belwa Legislative Council, has committed to sponsoring a resolution aimed at resolving ongoing concerns regarding the use of measurement containers by grain sellers in the area.
The decision follows numerous complaints regarding the discrepancy where sellers in Mayo Belwa reportedly use smaller containers for measuring rice and maize, despite purchasing with larger containers from other markets.
Expressing his concern after conducting a firsthand assessment of the market situation, Hon. Bilyaminu criticized the practice as unacceptable.
He vowed to bring the matter before the council chamber to propose a resolution mandating the use of appropriate and standardized measurement containers across Mayo Belwa.
Stakeholders have raised alarm over the impact of this discrepancy on residents, describing it as a source of significant hardship.
They urged sellers to adhere to ethical standards and adopt the same measurement practices observed in neighboring local government areas within Adamawa State.
