The Executive Chairman Mayo-belwa Local Government Council Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi distributes bags of NPK&SSP fertilizers to farmers across the Twelve Ward of Mayo-belwa.
The local council chairman was represented by the legislative Council leader Hon. Ashibiyam Bulus during the launched distribution exercise at the Mayo-belwa council secretariat, saturday.
Speaking at the Flag-off ceremony, Hon. Umar Nashon commended the Federal Government for the gesture which he said would go along way in supporting farmers at the grassroots to boost their farming activities thereby enhancing production in the Lga.
The beneficiaries including general members of the public,Farmers,civil societies, and individual small scale farmers across the local government.
Nashon Gubi explained that the program aims to alleviate the economic burden on farmers who are struggling with high prices of essential commodities and farming inputs, particularly fertiliser.
The beneficiaries in their seperate remarks, expressed their support to the newly administration of Umar Nashon which introduced revolving scheme of distribution. The system helped real farmers and less privilege to get the commodity as instructed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri unlike others when the commodity was allocated to many people many times over.
They alleged that in view of the method adopted previously only those with connections were given allocation thereby excluding many those who deserve to be given.
The Council Chairman finally urges the citizen to engaged in special prayers in their various places of worship to seek for divine intervention for rainfall so as not to affect bumper harvest.
